Eyes That See It All

You stare with eyes that see it all

eyes shining like sunlight on the water’s edge

shining in wonder of it all

all that is here, all that is here and not seen, all that is not here and felt.

When you speak, it’s the opening of a cosmic jar of fireflies

you caught in the garden of the universe

and your words speak of its wisdom

tales of time we’ve never heard but were always there.

When you move, it’s with such weightlessness

the wind picks you up in a dance

and you flutter as a petal breaking free from the flower.

Yet, your lightness movewith purpose

a sense of knowing

that comes from seeing it all:

every tree shedding its leaves

every bird’s last flight

every darkened path

every star that falls

and every one burning new.

You see it all:

with eyes of wonder

your eyes in wonder

your eyes bring wonder

to the world.
