Colour Doesn’t Matter by Snigdha Agrawal

Michael Nikon

COLOUR DOESN’T MATTER

In a sea of fairness, she stands alone
A dusky hue, dark skin tone
Eyes avert wherever she goes

She bears the burden, silent, strong,
In a world that tells her

she doesn't belong

But deep within, a fire burns
A truth unyielding,

as the world turns

Belong she does

For doesn’t the darkness hold stars

she asks

That thought stays with her

as she goes about

unmindful of their stares
