My dog hears things I can’t —
the footfall of a deer in the
distance.
She takes pause , gazing
off into the direction of some
thing I cannot see.
I scan between the trees.
My boots creak-crunch
through the snow —
there’s not much chance
I will spot deer walking through —
I only hear their ghosts.
