Here are the days of small things
a cup of cold water, a blanket
for a cold night, a kiss
to warm cold comfort
We were warned against
their neglect: the gathering
together, the breaking
of bread, the fatherless
and widowed and alien
the small things, the
least ones, make
our days salt and light:
a small grain a tiny flame
