Sheltered Voyeurs
Looking out of our Marriott hotel window,
we watched a crescent roll float down
the gutter like a storm rat dreamboat
as thrill-crazed bicyclers would hydroplane
over puddles that reached the middle
of Main Street. Room service interrupted
meditating on nature’s magic, yet we
liberated our minds in a matter of minutes
allowing them to wander, merge,
and dissipate as freely as wads of paper,
discarded food, and soggy litterbug debris
gushing past below us like sewer surfers.
