From Room to Room

– after Marie Ponsot

Arriving in this world, light-

starved, we begin, blinded,

groping our way, going about

the business of beginning:

feeling, praying, yet

carefully side-

stepping pit-

falls that, perhaps,

imperil our progress.

We push onward.

So we soon discover ourselves

reaching out for whatever may be

in our way into that next dark room

& the room after that into

an inevitable return to our

place beyond the stars.
