Anxious Child
You’re older now
but still, you hide
behind the last locked door of your heart.
Wondering if it’s safe to come out?
Wondering if you will disappear or be made whole?
The place between sleep and wakefulness whispers
“Follow me. . . I know the way . . .
You will look better in the light.”
