eternal students by Melissa Lemay

I

eternal students

Many things are

sayable, not many need

be said. ‘I love you’

lingers between

cracks in pavement,

dirty rainwater,

fear of what if —

rejectionseparation

avoidanceloss,

fallen petals from

red, red rosesHalos

of light break over

the precipice of

God’s molding hands —

always molding,

making, in motion

for tomorrowGlimpses

of future blink

between cloud-wisps,

held ever so gently,

awaiting moments

for release. God

traces fingers over

creation — he

comforts children of

war holding guns, no

matter motive,

reason, he holds

them in his hands where

there is space

takes them

lightyears away inside

voices of angels and

Heavenly beings

strumming corners of

universe soft-like.

The plume of his pen

remains hidden for us,

eternal students,

searchingsearching.

  4. A delight to read this. Also - just my reaction - the first stanza appeals to me as a complete poem.
